“It’s About Life” tells the story my Dad and our relationship, from our beginning to his end. I illustrated this book for my Dad when he fell ill at the beginning of September 2008. He called me “little bear” when I was small, and that was the source of inspiration for this book. He was my best friend, my rock and my hero. I wanted to show him just how important he has always been to me throughout my life.
When I traveled to Europe the following April, I gave the book to him in person. Two weeks later, he passed away. The book was further developed for the iPad by Apps of All Nations. I created additional illustrations to turn the book into a more interactive experience.
For my Dad
He was already my best friend when I was born.
He played with me until the sun went down.
He told me to follow my dreams. “The sky’s the limit,” he said.
He was always there to listen to me when I needed to talk.
He supported me when I wanted to live on my own.
He missed me and he hoped I was doing fine.
Sadly, when his time was up, we had to say goodbye.
He left, whistling to the beat of the music, the rhythm of his life.
But he’ll always be with me. Because when the moon is out,I see him in my shadow.
My best friend, my Dad...
Take it easy, Dad.
