I was born and raised in The Netherlands. That backdrop of Dutch and European culture was the basis for my design sensibilities. Design was often minimal as seen in Dutch graphics, typography, architecture and illustrations. This tiny country produced an amazing group of world-renowned artists. Escher, Mondriaan, Bruna, Rietveld and Pick were a big influence on me, to name a few.
As a melting pot, Holland pulled in influences from neighbors like Germany and the UK. The techno scene that originated in the 90s produced a vibrant art scene. This had a big influence on my work when I first started out as a professional.
Over the years I dabbled with a number of programs, mainly categorized as graphic or 3D. I’m about to venture out in 3D again, this time with Blender. That will be a full-circle experience since I co-created the 1st and 2nd Blender manuals.
